Stuck on the same platform

Engineers kept arriving stuck on the same metadata platform, and almost none of their problems were in the platform: missing search indices, bootstrap steps running in the wrong order, a container image that did not match the chart. Helping them taught me that the first question is never "what is broken". It is "what did you expect to be running by now that is not". Most of them could answer it immediately and had never been asked.
